Raised in Norfolk, VA from the age of two, where his father retired from the Navy, Michael began his professional career in 1990. Licensed by the Virginia Board of Cosmetology, he operated as a Nail Technician providing artificial nail enhancements. In 1997, his yearning for adventure led him to move to the Virgin Islands where he built a rewarding career as a USCG Licensed Captain and sailor guiding vacationers on snorkeling, diving, and sailing excursions. In 2008 he spent several months in Chiang Mai, Thailand. While there, he attended ITM, to study Thai Massage under Chongkol Setthakorn and spent 40 hours under the private tutelage of Master Ajarn Sinchai Sukparset. He rounded out his journey practicing vipassana meditation under the direction of Ajarn Suppan, the abbot of Wat Rampoeng. Michael returned to Virginia with a new focus and a grounded sense of purpose. In 2011 he started a private practice, FLOW Massage & Bodywork. Having graduated from Advanced Fuller School of Massage Therapy, he is nationally and state certified in therapeutic massage and bodywork. In 2017 he completed a YTT 200 curriculum under the nurturing guidance of Tamara McGuire. When not in session, Michael enjoys deepening his spiritual practice through meditation and yoga, gardening, exploring art and poetry, and getting off the beaten path. Attending music and art festivals, sailing, and mostly preciously, spending time with his son are favorite past times.
